Retired from a career in post-secondary education, Charles now lives on Vancouver island on Canada’s scenic west coast. He was born in England but has lived most of his life in Canada. Schooled in Canada, England and the United States, he is an anthropologist and historian by training and likes to use his background in the history and culture of China and Europe in the stories and novels he writes. He enjoys sailing the 24’ sailboat he and his wife bought and re-fitted, or working in his garden. He also undertakes a lot of volunteer work for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. He says he is giving time to that organization in return for the help provided to him as a partially sighted person since the age of nineteen. When not writing, sailing, gardening or volunteering, Charles likes to read audio books, and plays classical and flamenco guitar.
